Brixton Rec Quarter - Workspace Grade II Listed Brixton, London SW9

Creation of Workspace to basement area of Grade II Listed Brixton Recreation Centre.

Fabric, External and Structure

Creation of new entrance and windows to existing concrete and masonry, waterproofing of these and making good. A structural opening was formed to create a fire escape and open up views through the basement onto the Rec concourse. Internally included the creation of new openings in existing concrete floor slabs, installation of a new supporting steel structure, a new staircase and new platform lift. Lighting improvements to Beehive Place.

Fit-out

Construction of walls lining the existing external walls, construction of new walls to form the core including toilets. Plastering and decoration of these areas. Toilet and kitchen were fully fitted including floor and wall finishes and suspended lighting installed.

Shop Fronts

Renew shop fronts and shutters, providing new illuminated signage and lighting. Works included remodelling, exposing original waffle ceilings, rewires, new shop front glazing, bespoke lighting and a new lighting scheme for the Rec Centre.
