Experienced Site Manager
The Construction Site Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations on a construction site. This role involves managing and supervising the construction activities, ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Site Manager will co-ordinate with subcontractors, manage site safety, and handle any issues that arise during construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial:
3-weekly rolling programme.
Control of labour; keeping to a minimum.
Control of materials – ordering only as specifically required.
Attend Sub-Contractors pre-appointment and pre-start meetings.
Familiarisation with all project drawings and schedules.
Ensure site copies of all project drawings and schedules are up to date.
Daily Diaries; comprehensively completed.
Familiarisation with the project Prelims.
Manage all plant on site in regard to costs; buying not hiring where appropriate.
Project Planning and Co-ordination:
Develop and implement detailed construction plans, schedules, and work programs in co-ordination with the Contract Manager.
Ensure that all activities are in compliance with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.
Co-ordinate with architects, engineers, and other construction and building specialists.
Site Management:
Oversee all on-site construction activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and timeline requirements.
Manage and supervise site staff, sub-contractors, and suppliers, ensuring that they perform their roles efficiently and safely.
Monitor and manage the use of materials, equipment, and resources on-site.
Quality Control:
Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets the required standards and specifications.
Identify and resolve any defects or issues that may arise during construction.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with local building codes and regulations.
Health and Safety:
Implement and enforce safety protocols on-site, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel and visitors.
Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks regularly.
Investigate and report on any accidents or incidents on-site, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain open communication with the Contract Manager and other stakeholders regarding project progress, challenges, and changes.
Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports, including work completed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Co-ordinate site meetings with contractors, clients, and consultants as required.
Budget and Cost Control:
Monitor and manage project costs on-site, ensuring that all works remain within budget.
Arrange purchase orders, deliveries, and invoices in line with the budget and project requirements in conjunction with the Buying Department.
Identify and report any potential cost variations, overruns or savings.
Problem-Solving:
Address any on-site issues or conflicts that arise, whether related to personnel, materials, or processes.
Develop and implement solutions to maintain the project schedule and quality standards.
Qualifications:
NVQ L4 Diploma in Construction Site Supervision
NVQ L6 Diploma in Construction Site Management
SMSTS
CSCS Black Card
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role on construction sites.
Skills:
Strong leadership and management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in construction management procedures.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
Working Conditions:
Primarily on-site with potential exposure to various weather conditions.
May require flexibility of hours, including weekends, depending on project demands.
